The Secretariat provides general support to the members of Gambling Research Australia.
The main function of the Gambling Research Australia is to develop a research program and commission research throughout Australia to enable a better understanding of the issues surrounding problem gambling.
The secretariat services are undertaken by staff in the Office of Gaming and Racing within the Victorian Department of Justice.
The major roles of the Secretariat are to:
- Provide a clearinghouse role for research on the causes and social consequences of problem gambling
- To publicise the activities of the Gambling Research Australia Program
- Develop an up-to-date and searchable gambling research database
- To commission and coordinate national research on behalf of Gambling Research Australia.
